2) Help them free themselves from moral paralysis, so that they can start to heal.
Might I suggest, Ron, that through highlighting this quote, you are helping us with both.
I believe you are correct in pointing out that there are two issues here as Merton has noted.
This issue Merton goes onto say is that the reason for our moral paralysis is that we have 'failur of courage'. We know that we need to make a moral decision, however, we fail to make a decision of the will to follow through.
